I let my little Valentine create some art today! She had so much fun stamping hearts on canvas, gluing tissue paper hearts, pom poms and I sprinkled some purple glitter for her (I'm not ready to let her blow glitter around yet) to make it even prettier.
Materials needed:
Blank, primed canvas, pre-stretched
Red acrylic or tempera paint
Toliet paper tube
Tissue paper (I recycled some I received at her baby shower)
Pom poms
Glitter
Glue (I used regular Elmers and a bit of tacky glue for the pom poms)
Scissors
Rubber band
Hair dryer
What to do:
Mold your toilet paper tube into a heart shape, I used a rubber band to hold the shape.
Then, I covered the bottom of a small, shallow dish with the red paint. I let her do her own dipping and stamping. She did GREAT!!! I used my hair dryer with the diffuser attachment on the high setting. I switched between hot and cool to speed up the drying process.
Next, I used Elmers glue and let it drip and swirl all over the canvas. She pressed on the tissue paper hearts I cut out for her in bulk (folded the tissue many times and cut) wherever her little heart desired. After that, I smeared Tacky glue on each pom pom and she placed them artfully upon the canvas. Finally, I dripped and swirled more Elmers glue over her masterpiece in preparation for glitter distribution.
Since my Valentine is not yet trained in the skill of glitter management, I sprinkled it onto the canvas and tapped off the excess. All that is left is for the glue to dry.
This one is going up on our art wall. No doubt!
